A Little Behind

This is absolute dopeness right here…

We all know it’s (what would have been) the 37th birthday of J Dilla. Well, in October of 2010 jazz trio/NYU students Stray Phases (Storm Siegel on drums, Dave Mainella on piano and Evan Crane on bass) performed James’ instrumental masterpiece Donuts in its entirety. I’ve been listening to this over and over and over now, and I think all music fans will do the same. Major props to TheSmokingSection for unearthing this gem.

As part of international Pillow Fight Day - Los Angeles, some people walked  biked and drove to downtown to see what's up. The energy levels were through the roof. making a video of this event was for sure the right move, the atmosphere sort of was asking to be properly documented. the camera was straight into the core of the action.
