Tibetan mastiff

Last week, a Chinese coal baron paid a record  $1.5 million for an 11-month old red Tibetan mastiff named BIG SPLASH, or Hong Dong in Chinese.

Tibetans believe mastiffs have the souls of departed monks and nuns who didn’t qualify for entry into heaven or reincarnation.

While Big Splash’s buyer may believe 10 million Chinese yuan is a small price to pay for a shot at the Big House in the Sky, it sure sounds like a lot of money, even for a working dog. (Don’t tell my dachshund Greta I said that.)

Big Splash will be kept in the style to which he is accustomed, with a menu of Chinese delicacies, including sea cucumber and abalone, to supplement his kibble.

This dude looks like a big orange BEAR!

ALL OF THE LIGHTS

My Destination

Camp Nou (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈkam ˈnɔw], “New Field”), often erroneously called “the Nou Camp” in English, is a football stadium in BarcelonaSpain. The stadium, located in the west of the city, has been the home of FC Barcelona since its construction in 1957. It has hosted numerous international matches at a senior level including two UEFA Champions League finals, the most recent being in 1999. It seats 99,354, making it the largest stadium in Europe and the fourteenth largest in the world in terms of capacity. Its official name was Estadi del FC Barcelona
(FC Barcelona Stadium) until 2000, when the club members voted to formally adopt the popular nicknameCamp Nou. It held UEFA five-star status until that rating was superseded by a new system of classification in 2006 in which the Camp Nou is now an elite stadium.

ORTICANOODLES

Savage Beauty

Beginning May 4th, the Metropolitan Museum in New York will commemorate the remarkable fashion career of Alexander McQueen with the exhibition Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. It will highlight his significant contribution to the world of fashion from his postgraduate collection in 1992 to his final runway presentation after his death in February 2010. 100 pieces of work will be displayed.

To allow the pieces to move, McQueens clothes were photographed for the exhibition by Sølve Sundsbø on live models which were then digitally altered to look like mannequins.

The show will run from May 4th till July 31,2011.

Summer Vacation

Imagine  a sunny day kicking back in California beach house, Well if you liked that, here is another from Gunyah beach in Bundeena, Australia. Created by architect Clinton Murray, solid as a rock and intended “last forever”, it wasn’t easy to tuck it into the hillside, very close to the breaking shoreline.

But enough with the location and how solid this beach house is, because the interior is just as spectacular as the site itself. The whole house is made of reused Oregon timber and textured off-form concrete which contrasts with the orange, really well. It has a main living quarters with everything you may need (including three master bedrooms with en-suite balconies) for a relaxing vacation and a copper clad roof to offer stunning ocean views. – via Fresh Homes

More to Come.

Oddly enough its been the same exact days since my last post. It seems that I don't have enough time for a post everyday. But that is not the case, I think I have not been searching hard enough for what I really want to inform you about. Its going to be interesting from here on out. Another step to the evolving Red Eye.
